The yellow-throated squirrel (Sciurus gilvigularis)
Habitat, lifestyle and habits
The yellow-throated squirrel (Sciurus gilvigularis) is endemic to South America and can be found in northern Brazil, Guyana and Venezuela. Its body length reaches 14-17 cm and its tail is about 17 cm long. The back of this squirrel is reddish-brown with grey hairs, the belly is reddish-orange, and the tail is lightly striped.
Biological description
Average measurements for 5 Venezuelan specimens: head and body length 166 mm, tail length 173 mm, hind foot length 43 mm. Colouration very similar to that of Guianan squirrel) (Sciurus aestuans), only slightly paler. Dorsum greyish reddish-brown, belly reddish-orange. Tail slightly striped.
