Hen
The man domesticated hens long ago. Since then, people have raised a lot of various breeds of hens. Some of them give many tasty and useful eggs. Other hens, decorative ones, are very beautiful and unusual, with multicolor featherings. Even a breed of hens was raised without feathers at all! And the birds of fighter breeds takes part in cock-fights.
Hen-females have a simple coloration: their feathering is brownish, a red comb rises on the head, there are "ear-rings" under the beak. Big claws on the legs are needed to dig up the ground to find food. The hen is a solicitous mother. She warms, hatches the eggs. And when fluffy yellow chickens hatch, the hen protects them against any danger, teaches them to distinguish a real grain from small pebbles. At night, the chickens hide under the mother's wing.
As to the cocks, they are really well-looking! Their combs are bigger, there are sharp spurs on the legs. But the main decoration of the cocks is a big multicolored tail. The cock vigilantly keeps order at the poultry yard. When necessary, it bravely rushes to defend its hens and chickens.
