Turkey

A turkey is the biggest of the farmyard birds. Turkeys feed on berries, sprouts and stems of herbs, insects. The turkey is a beautiful bird. It has a big body, a long neck and legs. A turkey male has a bright magnificent feathering composed of large feathers. The tail is like an open fan. It has a beard as well with pink excrescences. At the same time, a turkey female looks modest, she has not to attract attention because she hatches eggs and takes care of the fledglings.

In spring, the turkey males compete between them and stand in splendor before the turkey females using their strength and presentation. They scream, spread the feathers on the tail and on the wings, their leathery decorations increasing and seem to shine like flames.

Turkeys make nests in secluded places. It happens often that the same nest contains eggs of several turkey-females, and they hatch this collective nest jointly as well. And when the fledglings appear, the turkey females lead them together. It seems to be a real turkey "kindergarten".
