Stubborn kitten (Valisy Biryukov)

A kitten went outside. He saw a sparrow flying from one tree to another and said:

- I can do that too.

- You can't, - said the cockerel, - only birds can fly... and not all of them.

- But I can," said the stubborn kitten.

So the kitten climbed up a tree and jumped. Jumped and... flew to the ground. It's good that he fell on the bushes, he didn't hurt himself too much.

- Well, - said the cockerel, - I told you so.

- I told you, I told you... It was me who pushed off weakly.

The geese were cackling near the pond. The goslings were jumping into the water from the low bank. Swimming, splashing and cackling merrily.

- I can do that too, - said the kitten.

- Geese and ducks can swim so easily, - said the cockerel.

- What's the big deal," said the kitten, "what's the big deal - jump and swim.

The kitten scattered and jumped into the pond. He drummed his paws on the water and cried out:

- "I'm drowning!

An old goose swam up. He took the kitten by the collar and threw it on the shore. But he pinched it hard.

- There you go. "I couldn't do it again," said the rooster.

- That's not how I worked with my legs. You have to use all four, but I only used the rare ones.

A starling sang merrily on a tall poplar tree. The kitten looked at it and said:

- I can do that too.

- You know how to do everything, but nothing works.

- I can, I can, - said the kitten.

He climbed up on a poplar tree and mewed. And so loud and disgusting that the dogs howled, the geese cackled, and the mistress ran out of the house.

- Shut up!" she shouted. - Get out! You frightened the children.

The stubborn one rolled down the tree.

- How was it? - laughed the rooster.

- No way! - Angrily said the kitten.
