Guinea fowls Numididae
Guinea fowl birds are found across Africa and Madagascar. Their body length comprises 40 to 70 cm. The guinea fowl has a short tail bent downwards. Unlike other body parts, which are densely covered with feathers and look rounded, the head and neck are mostly naked. All guinea fowl birds have dark white-spotted plumage. They live in groups inhabiting mountainous areas of thick bushes and low forest alternating with small openings. Guinea fowl are good runners, but they are reluctant to fly, making at best 500 m. They feed on insects and plant parts such as berries, seeds, buds, leaves, etc. Numididae family includes only seven bird species.
