The African forest buffalo Syncerus caffernanus
The African forest buffalo is the smallest subspecies of African buffalos; its body length is about 120 cm and average weight, 270 kg. The African forest buffalo is found in equatorial rain forests of Western and Central Africa. The horns of the African forest buffalo are very small, rarely reaching 40 cm in length. This subspecies is so different from other buffalo subspecies that some researchers consider it a separate species.
