Distribution and lifestyle
The Sibree dwarf lemur (Cheirogaleus sibreei) is a species of rat lemur. Endemic to Madagascar. For a long time, the species was considered extinct because its habitat had been destroyed. However, in 2010, researchers confirmed that a live lemur of the species Cheirogaleus sibreei had been found in the wild. Research has confirmed that it can be considered a separate species.
Cheirogaleus sibreei overwinters in small burrows at a depth of 10-40 cm. During hibernation, body temperature is reduced to 15°C.
