Simmons' mouse lemur (Microcebus simmonsi) is a species of mouse lemur known only from Betampona Special Reserve, Analalava Special Community Reserve near Foulpointe, and Zahamena National Park in Madagascar.
The species is named in honor of Dr. Lee Simmons, former director of the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo in Nebraska.
Appearance and distribution
Microcebus simmonsi is a species of strepsirrhine primate in the family Cheirogaleidae.
This species is the largest of the mouse lemurs of the eastern coast of Madagascar. The fur colour is dark red to brownish orange, with black hair tips on the crown. The muzzle has a white spot and the belly is grey or white.
