The pale fork-marked lemur (Phaner pallescens), or western fork-marked lemur, is a species of lemur known from western Madagascar; south of the Fiherenana River to the region of Soalala. It is listed on CITES Appendix I.
Distribution
The pale forked-eared lemur (Phaner pallescens), is a species of primate mammal in the family Cheirogaleidae.
The range of this species is the most extensive of all members of the genus Phaner pallescens. It occurs at various locations in western Madagascar, south of the Fierenana River and north of Sualala, at altitudes between 0 and 800 metres above sea level.
Conservation status
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has given this species the status of "Least Concern". The population is believed to be declining. Population density is estimated at 300-400 individuals per km².
