The Zanzibar Galagoides zanzibaricus (Galagoides zanzibaricus)
The Zanzibar bushbaby (Galagoides zanzibaricus) is listed as threatened on the IUCN Red List.
The Zanzibar bushbaby, Matundu dwarf galago, Udzungwa bushbaby, or Zanzibar galago (Paragalago zanzibaricus) is a primate of the family Galagidae.
An adult weighs 100 to 300 grams and measures between 34 and 39.5 centimetres. Like the other galagid species, its diet consists mainly of fruits and insects.
Geographical distribution and habitat
Endemic to the forests of Tanzania (including some islands of the Zanzibar archipelago).
Subspecies
The following subspecies are recognised:
- Galagoides zanzibaricus zanzibaricus, from the Zanzibar Archipelago;
- Galagoides zanzibaricus udzungwensis, from Tanzania mainland.
