The Betsileo woolly lemur or Betsileo avahi (Avahi betsileo)
The Betsileo woolly lemur or Betsileo avahi (Avahi betsileo) is a species of woolly lemur native to southeastern Madagascar, in the District of Fandriana.
Appearance
Avahi betsileo is a species of woolly lemur which, like all lemur species, is a primate of the Indriidae family.
It weighs about 1 kg. The wool is light reddish-brown all over, except on the chin and limbs, which are grey. The wool on its head is thicker than that of other woolly lemurs.
Conservation status
The International Union for Conservation of Nature has given the species the status of "endangered". With a range of less than 1,470 km², it is highly fragmented and in constant decline due to deforestation.
