Fleurete's sportive lemur or the Andohahela sportive lemur (Lepilemur fleuretae)
Fleurete's sportive lemur (Lepilemur fleuretae), or the Andohahela sportive lemur, is a sportive lemur endemic to Madagascar.
Appearance
Lepilemur fleuretae is a species of lemur, genus Lepilemur, also known as the leaping lemurs, described in 2006, thanks to genetic analysis.
A medium-sized species of Lepylemurus, the fur is predominantly grey, with a brownish tinge on the limbs. Around the eyes the coat is noticeably lighter. There is a darker stripe along the back. The underside of the body is light grey. The length of the body is 58 to 67 cm, of which the tail is about 30 cm.
Distribution
It is found in the southeast of Madagascar, in the humid forests of the Andújachel National Park, between the Mandraré and Mananara rivers.
Conservation status
The International Union for Conservation of Nature has given this species a conservation status of "critically endangered". The main threat to the population is habitat destruction.
