Hubbard's sportive lemur or the Zombitse sportive lemur (Lepilemur hubbardorum)
Hubbard's sportive lemur (Lepilemur hubbardorum), or the Zombitse sportive lemur, is a sportive lemur endemic to Madagascar.
Description
Lepilemur hubbardorum is a species of primate mammal in the family Lepilemuridae.
A relatively large lepilemur weighing about 1 kg. The coat is reddish brown, grey and white. The muzzle is greyish brown and the upper part is reddish brown. The neck coat is of a lighter shade, giving the impression of a "collar". The back is reddish brown, lighter underneath. The coat is white on the belly and reddish on the tail. Total length 51 to 59 cm, tail length 23 to 25 cm.
Distribution
Found in south-western Madagascar, in the province of Toliara, where several populations are known from the Zumbice National Park. Prefers dry deciduous forests.
Conservation status
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has classified the species as "near threatened" and habitat destruction is the main threat to it.
