The red-tailed sportive lemur (Lepilemur ruficaudatus), or red-tailed weasel lemur, is native to Madagascar like all lemurs.
Description
Lepilemur ruficaudatus is a species of lemur in the family Lepilemuridae.
Its vision is binocular. The cecum is enlarged. The toe tips are large and flat, which is an adaptation to an arboreal lifestyle. The coat on the back is light greyish brown with a reddish tinge on the front. On the belly and chest the coat is light grey or white. It has an average weight of 860 grams, an average body length of 24.3 cm and an average tail length of 24.2 cm.
Distribution
Found in the dry forests of western Madagascar, north of the Mangoki and Tsiribihina rivers. In the north the range borders that of the related species Lepilemur randrinanasoli.
