Subfamily Hamsters Cricetinae
The mouse-like hamster Calomyscus bailwardi
This animal does not look like typical hamster; it has a long tail with a small tassel of hair on the tip, its hind legs are longer than the front ones, and what is most important, the mouse-like hamster lacks cheek poaches.
Relatively little is known about ecology of this strange hamster. It is found in barren deserts of Iran, Afghanistan, and North Pakistan, and also occurs in the mountainsides of south-western Turkmenistan, and southern part of Transcaucasia.
