The four-striped grass mouse (Rhabdomys pumilio) or four-striped grass rat, is a species of rodent in the family Muridae.
Habitat
Rhabdomys pumilio inhabits Africa - from Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda to the very south of the continent. It chooses to live in tall grasses, bushes and forest edges. Settles near human habitation. Leads a diurnal lifestyle.
Appearance and features
A distinctive feature of Rhabdomys pumilio - four (sometimes two) dark stripes that decorate the back of rodents. Hence the English name of mice - four-striped grass.
