Fur seal
Fur seals are very cute animals. They swim so fast that they can be confused with a fish or a dolphin. Seals have huge eyes that allow them to see fish far away, even if it is dark around them.
Fur seals have ears! In fact, they even have small ear flaps that they cover when they dive to keep water from getting in.
Their legs are very interesting: the front flippers resemble the wings of a bird, and the back flippers are used as a rudder to control movement. They can even scratch themselves with their hind flippers!
Where they live
Fur seals usually live in cold places, such as the Arctic and Antarctica. But some species also live in warm seas. They like to rest on ice blocks or sandy shores.
What they eat
Fur seals are real hunters! They love to catch fish, squid and other small sea animals. When seals swim, their whiskers help them feel the movement of fish nearby.
Friendly families
Fur seals usually live together with their families and friends. They may have babies that the mamas seals love and care for very much. Baby seals don't know how to swim at first, but they learn quickly by following their mum's lead.
