Cow
A cow is a big cute animal with four legs and a long tail. And on her long tail there is a little tassel. When flies try to land on the cow, she can chase them away with this tail, as if to say, "Fly away, flies!".
The cow may have spots of different shapes and colours, sometimes she looks like a big white or brown plush toy! The cow also has two horns growing on its head that look like jewellery.
If you've ever looked at a cow's nose, you might have noticed an interesting pattern on it. Each cow's nose is unique, just like people's fingerprints!
Milk from under a cow
Did you know that cows and humans have been friends for a very long time? Yes, yes, humans domesticated the cow a long time ago. And thanks to this friendship, we have delicious milk! It is from this milk that butter, cheese, yoghurt and many other delicious products are made. Farmers milk the cows in the morning and evening, and because of this we have milk for breakfast.
What cows eat
Cows love grass! They can graze in a meadow and eat fresh grass for hours. Sometimes they are given special food on the farm to keep them strong and healthy.
There are so many different kinds of cows!
There are big cows, small cows, cows with long wool or short wool. Cows can be different colours: white, black, brown or even spotted. Some cows have long horns and others have tiny horns. These are all different breeds of cows, and there are almost a thousand of them!
Where cows live
On a farm, a cow has its own house - this is called a barn. Inside the barn it is warm and cosy. There the cow can rest, sleep and shelter from rain or snow.
Cows in history
People have always been very fond of cows. In ancient times, in different parts of the world, cows were considered special and even magical. People used to draw cows on the walls of their homes and temples to show how much they appreciated these amazing animals.
