Genus Ruffed pheasants Chrysolophus
This genus includes only two species: the golden pheasant and the Lady Amherst`s pheasant. These birds are small, with a long tail and a “ruff” of elongated feathers around the head, which can be spread in display. The legs of ruffed pheasants are very thin, with undeveloped spurs. These species are closely related and easily interbreed in captivity, with the first hybrid generation being able to breed.
