Genus Jungle fowl Gallus
Genus Gallus includes four species. Gallus species differ from other members of the subfamily in that the males have a fleshy comb, lobed wattles hanging below the bill, and high-arched tail. In the wild, jungle fowl are found in India and South East Asia. The red jungle fowl (G. gallus) is the ancestor of the domestic chicken; therefore, it is not surprising that jungle fowl can be found practically in all continents. These birds are of high economic importance for human. Jungle fowl can easily interbreed with domestic chickens, producing fertile offspring called the Bekisar.
