The Edwards`s pheasant Lophura edwardsi
The Edwards`s pheasant dwells in rainforests located at elevations of up to 900 m above sea level, where it inhabits the narrow space on broken limestone hillsides. The species is distributed in Central Vietnam, mostly between the rivers Ben Hai and Bung. It lives on hillsides, in wet tropical forests with dense shrubby undergrowth, feeding mostly on plants. The pheasants build their nests on the ground in small scrapes, and the clutch consists of 4 to 7 eggs. The incubation period lasts for 21–22 days. The species is included to the IUCN Red List as critically endangered and listed in the Appendix I of CITES.
