Appearance
Goodman's mouse lemur (Microcebus lehilahytsara) is a species of lemur in the family Cheirogaleidae. The fur is short, thick and light reddish-brown. Reddish on the back, head and tail, light cream on the underside of the body. There is a white stripe on the bridge of the nose. The ears are small and round. The tail is long and can be used to store excess fat. Body length 90 to 92 mm, weight 30 to 64 grams.
Distribution
Found in and around the Andasibe region in the province of Tuamasina in north-eastern Madagascar.
Lifestyle and reproduction
Nocturnal arboreal animals. Its diet consists mainly of fruits and small invertebrates. Like other mice, the male reaches sexual maturity at about one year of age. Pregnancy lasts two to three months. Females give birth two to four times a year. Life expectancy in the wild is about 5 years.
