MacArthur's mouse lemur (Microcebus macarthurii), or the Anjiahely mouse lemur, is a species of mouse lemur known only from Makira Natural Park in northeastern Madagascar.
Description
Microcebus macarthurii is a species of lemur described in 2008. The species was named after the founders of the MacArthur Foundation, which funded the studies that led to the discovery of the species. Genetic studies have shown that this species differs from Microcebus mittermeieri, which occurs in the same region and is sympatric with Microcebus macarthurii. There may also be another undescribed species of mouse lemur in the same area.
Distribution
Found in the eastern part of Makira National Park, Madagascar.
The species is named in honor of the founder of the MacArthur Foundation, which financed the studies that included the discovery of this species.
