Mittermeier's mouse lemur (Microcebus mittermeieri)
Mittermeier's mouse lemur (Microcebus mittermeieri) is a species of mouse lemur known only from Anjanaharibe-Sud Special Reserve in Madagascar.
Appearance
Microcebus mittermeieri is a species of primate (mouse lemur). It has a body length of about 9 cm, a tail length of about 11 cm and a weight of 34 to 51 (average 44) grams. The head is round, the muzzle is short, the ears protrude from the skin and the eyes are large. The coat is reddish brown on the back and the belly is light brown or whitish. There is a dark brown stripe on the back. Throat and neck with yellowish patches.
Distribution
Found in the Anjanaharibé-Sud Special Reserve area in north-eastern Madagascar. It inhabits lowland and montane forests at altitudes of up to 1760m. The species has not been studied in the wild.
Conservation status
In 2014, the International Union for Conservation of Nature gave this species a conservation status of Endangered. The area of distribution is less than 430 km2. The area of distribution is highly fragmented and steadily decreasing.
