The Southern white-breasted hedgehog (or the Eastern European hedgehog) – Erinaceus concolor
The Southern white-breasted hedgehog is very similar in lifestyle and appearance to the European hedgehog but, as its name implies, the white-breasted hedgehog has a white spot on its chest. Its global range is Asia Minor to Israel, Syria, Lebanon, northern Iraq and north-western Iran, and the southern Caucasus. The preferred habitats are urban, suburban and agricultural areas to natural vegetation. These hedgehogs are mostly nocturnal, feeding primarily on beetles and earthworms.
